White Dress
This flowing piano piece was inspired by and composed for a dancer friend. The main motif evokes a subtle breeze adding gentle movement to a dancer’s dress. While the mandolin counter-melody adds some dimension to this piece, it also works for standalone solo piano.

Chelsea Waltz
I have been playing around with main motif of this piece for several years. Earlier versions had a slightly more jazz waltz feel. As this version with the mandolin and piano developed, it began to sound a bit more contemporary.

The Pines
This piece was composed on the mandolin while I was gazing out my window at the pine trees in my yard. Some sections evoke a choir and bells which give it a more wintery feeling for me. I have arranged this work for solo mandolin and for piano with mandolin with optional string quartet parts. The strings add some depth and wintery character throughout.

Star-Crossed
I have always loved melancholy popular music from the early 1970s. For me, there is a real connection between the melancholy feeling in Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23, K. 488 – II: Adagio and Beethoven’s Adagio Ma Non Troppo, ES-Dur WoO 43 Nr. 3 (one of his compositions for mandolin) and the emotional songs from the 1970s. This work evokes a feeling of sadness and longing which inspired the title.
